Our Story

Born into a family steeped in musical tradition, Shehani’s journey is a testament to a legacy of passion and dedication. At age 3, Shehani started formal lessons on the piano. This sparked a profound love for the instrument that has shaped her career.

Her musical journey has since been adorned with numerous competition victories, involvement in church performances, and enriching collaborations across various musical genres. Beyond the piano, she found joy in playing the Euphonium during high school and continues to indulge in playing the clarinet and recorder as hobbies. Her repertoire includes masterworks by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Schubert, and Satie, alongside vibrant Bollywood and Sri Lankan music. This early exposure to such a wide array of music deepened her appreciation and understanding of musical expression.

Shehani’s dedication to music led her to complete her piano and music theory exams with Trinity College London and ABRSM, under the guidance of outstanding teachers in Sri Lanka. She earned her Bachelor of Performing Artis at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka and Master of Music at the Australian Institute of Music. Ever since she can remember, it has been her dream to build a music school that provides high-quality music education to benefit students worldwide, a dream she pursued even as she gained many years of teaching experience.

She has over a decade of experience teaching instrumental lessons across Sri Lanka, the UAE, and Melbourne, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse ages and abilities, ensuring every student receives personalized guidance. In addition to individual and group teaching skills, her background as a classroom music teacher enhances her ability to create engaging and inspiring lessons that captivate students’ interest and foster their musical growth. This has made her confident in building her dream under the name Solfeo Music School.
